Go West – to New Mexico!

6 July 2021

The jeep’s all packed for travel tomorrow to Quincy, Florida. Thanks to Stephen for helping me get the carrier on top of the jeep!New

On the road again – finally! My previously scheduled trip out west to visit a cousin is back on again. I intend to drive to San Antonio to pick up said cousin and then drive to Edgewood, NM to see another cousin. We plan to make several stops en route to New Mexico.

One stop is Pal0 Duro Canyon State Park. It’s the second largest canyon system in the U.S., behind you-know-who. What is different about this canyon is that you can drive through the canyon floor the length of the canyon. It’s one of Texas’ best kept secrets.

On our way back, we’ll stop at Big Bend National Park. Shamefully, said cousin who has lived in Texas for many, many years, has never been to Big Bend. Even I’ve been to Big Bend. Of course, there are so many places in Florida I’ve not seen and I’ve lived here 37 years.

Below is my itinerary.

After 34 years in the classroom and lab teaching biology, I'm ready to get back to traveling and camping and hiking. It's been too long of a break. I miss the outdoors and you can follow my wanderings on this blog.

  1. Have a great time. Holley wanted you to visit the Copper Canyon, but the Mexicans got the US to pay for a wall to keep us out. I wish the boss would retire so we, too, can cavort around the country.
