Everything Fred – Part 445

1 February 2025

I had three things I needed to do yesterday. In route, I added a fourth. I was able to accomplish three of the four.

First was to take a Sharps package to the post office. Fortunately, there were few people in line and I got to drop the box off quickly. I then Googled for the closest Jiffy Lube to get under the chassis lubed. The reason is I drove through two floods this year (Yeah Jeep!) and I had some squeaky joints. The first Google directed me to an address where there was no Jiffy Lube anymore.

I knew of a second lubrication joint off 3rd and I headed there. I pulled in and the “mechanic” was in the toilet. When he emerged, he said they did not do lube jobs – even though it was in the name of business.

I then decided to try the third item on my list and get the car washed on the outside and cleaned on the inside. As I headed that way, I came upon a Jiffy Lube. The person who helped me had to go ask their mechanic. The mechanic asked the year of my Jeep (2015) and he told me all the lubrication points in the chassis were sealed. OK.

I then headed to the car wash and got that done and completed the fourth item added to my list and stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some grapes and grapefruit – and a few other sundry items.

When I got home, I Googled whether or not the 2015 Jeep had sealed lubrication points. The answer was yes, then no, then yes and then no. The owner’s manual doesn’t say anything about chassis lubrication. I have no idea. I suspect they are sealed and require a visit to a dealership to get them done. Not going to do that.

I’ve mentioned I like to luxuriate in bed every morning. In other words, I put off getting up. Sometimes I doze and sometimes I think about the day’s chores. This is Saturday so that means wash day and change linens.

I got to thinking about how I only recently (when you are 76, that spans a few years) figured out the tag on the fitted sheet fits long ways on the bed. Before I realized that I haphazardly tried to put the fitted sheet on and sometimes guessed right and sometimes guessed wrong.

I also contemplated the flat sheet and how each flat sheet I have fits differently on the bed. All sheets were purchased from L.L. Bean over the years and all are for a queen sized bed. Every sheet fits differently from the other. Some are longer than others and some are wider than others and it’s anybody’s guess as to which sheet is what. You’d think they could standardize sheets.

I supposed people with unusual beds like round ones, water beds, and Alaskan Kings would be upset but there was once a store in the Galleria that made custom made sheets. For a price.

I’m still tired from the 6 hour visit to a dealership with my friend and I’m tired from my four sojourns yesterday. The bed is now made and I intend to crawl under the down comforter and read a little and nap a little.

Stay tuned!
