Everything Fred – Part 469

26 February 2025

It’s a gorgeous day in the neighborhood! Sunny, 59°F, low humidity. You can’t ask for anything better. I walked Riverland today and managed 1.9 miles. As usual, I was almost wiped out by a kid on a bicycle, coming up behind me, heading to the middle school down the road. Somebody needs to teach kids bicycle etiquette. Then again, the same could be said for Florida drivers. Traffic “laws” are only suggestions.

After the walk, I cleaned a bit in the house: trash cans, floors, bathroom, etc. It only took me around 45 minutes. I’ll continue to clean all week a little bit each day and hopefully I’ll get the monthly clean in by then.

I admit to growing up with Disney. I watched the “Mickey Mouse Club” after school every day and later “The Wonderful World of Disney.” From “The Wonderful World of Disney” I would get snippets of movies like Lady and the Tramp and Bambi. Sadly I didn’t see either of these two in theaters.

Good news! They are both on the Disney Channel and I finally got to see both. What struck me in both was the outstanding artwork and animation. In Bambi, you saw Bambi take his first steps by getting up like a deer would actually get up. The attention to detail by the animators was amazing. Some of the scenes would rival any CGI today.

After lunch, I headed to Boca Raton to pick up my taxes from Cardinal Accountants. For $250 they do my taxes and e-file them for me. The good news is I get $10 more in a refund than I did last year. The only question is with all the dismissals at the IRS, will anyone check my taxes and send me the check.

Tonight is movie night with Tucker and Chris.

Stay tuned!

After 34 years in the classroom and lab teaching biology, I'm ready to get back to traveling and camping and hiking. It's been too long of a break. I miss the outdoors and you can follow my wanderings on this blog.
