Everything Fred – Part 197

30 December 2023

In spite of the cold weather, my Glorioso lily managed a bloom. It’s brought a little sunshine into a rather upsetting week. I love the boldness of the colors of the lily. One thing I enjoy about the leaves is the ends form tendrils which allow it to wrap around anything it comes into contact.

Hostage Situation Tense

I think I have this figured out. I finally had someone from Hollywood Chrysler Jeep call me back. They are waiting on an exhaust sensor. They don’t do piecemeal work so they haven’t really done anything in four days. When the sensor comes in, they will then start/complete the work. The estimated time of arrival of the sensor is sometime on the 3rd of January which means the work may not be completed until the 4th. That’s assuming the sensor comes in on the 3rd. I would have appreciated a little more communication from them over the last 4 days.

I now begin to wonder how much of everything they will say is covered under warranty and how much I have to pay. I’ve already been told the change in the bulb of the headlight is $397.

The good news is I have a fairly quiet week. Tuesday I have an echocardiogram at Holy Cross to make sure the Herceptin isn’t destroying my heart. Then I have a Thursday session at the chiropractor (which I need). Joel has kindly offered me the use of one of his cars or to drive me to both appointments. Thank goodness for grocery delivery!

Usually, I pep up after a hydration infusion but I’m dragging today. My energy level is about zero. I had a rough night last night. I increased the dosage of Lyrica to 150 mg last night. My lower legs and feet have swollen to the point I felt the skin on my soles felt like they were going to split apart. I also developed some itching which is a problem with Lyrica. I got 6 hours of sleep last night but it was really uneven.

I’ve decided Lyrica is not for me. I need to wean myself off it. Looks like I’ve done a lot of weaning at the end of the year with Lyrica and Prednisone. I did a single 50 mg dose this morning and I’ll do another 50 mg dose tonight. Then I hope to pare it down to 50 mg a day and then every other day. What a pain!

I managed to clean at the house this morning. It took me a while to put clean linen on the bed. I had to take breaks in between chores. I also managed to wash to loads of laundry and dry and fold and put away.

Ole Miss is playing Penn State in the Peach Bowl. As of this writing, they lead 23 to 17. It’s been an exciting game so far and well played by both teams.

Stay tuned to see what goes wrong next in the life of Fred!
