Everything Fred – Part 190

23 December 2023

Merry Christmas Eve eve. That seems to be the meme these days. To me, it means change bed linen, wash clothes and clean house. This is my third good day in a row! My energy level is pretty good. My physical ability is still a little iffy. My balance is off and I can’t tell if the Lyrica is working (I’m up to 100 mg twice a day). I got everything done today but I was staggering from one task to another. The double dose of Lyrica seemed to have an effect on my nervous system.

Last night, I drove to Barbara’s and she drove me to Christine Wan’s where we met Joel and Keith for dinner. We all ordered the butterfly shrimp but the waiter came back and told us the kitchen was too busy to make the dish. Apparently, it’s complicated to complete. So there were two orders of sesame chicken and two orders of mu shu pork. I think the last time I mu shu pork was at the old Christine Wan’s on Federal Highway back in the 80’s.

It was good to see the guys and Barbara. This was my first outing since Thanksgiving and the first time I’ve felt up to it. The restaurant was, indeed, crowded but the waiters really did keep up with everything. As I came back from the bathroom, I sat down in the booth and found out it was not the booth. It was a case of mistaken identify on my part. The three people at the table were good natured about it. I think they got a good laugh about it.

Tonight, Chris and I plan to tour the neighborhood for holiday decorations. This time she is driving since my walking ability is a little dicey. The good news is there is no forecast of rain. Our walking tour often gets rained on. One year we got a proper drenching when the skies opened up. By driving, we’ll cover more territory.

Yesterday, while listening to NPR, I heard that Apple is in court. A company is suing them about the new Apple Watch. Apparently, they hired some of the employees of the company and then had them create a feature on the Apple Watch. The result is probably going to be the only people that will take the Apple Watch as a trade in is Apple. It may have other effects. I think it’s a good watch and the phone feature on the watch works much better than the old one. The old one would drop calls. I’ve only had one drop on the new watch and that may have been due to the other person.

Pretty soon it will be New Year’s Eve eve. Stay tuned!

After 34 years in the classroom and lab teaching biology, I'm ready to get back to traveling and camping and hiking. It's been too long of a break. I miss the outdoors and you can follow my wanderings on this blog.
