Everything Fred – Part 191

24 December 2023

A beautiful sunrise this morning!

Christmas Eve! I’m getting the egg nog ready. There’s a non-cook recipe in Irma Rombauer’s Joy of Cooking that I use. The recipe has raw eggs and you do have to be careful of yokes for Salmonella. However, the recipe also calls for 2 cups of bourbon or rum. I figure that’s enough to kill pretty much anything in the concoction. I’ve made this many times over the years and haven’t killed anyone yet.

My luncheon at the Capitol Grille got canceled today. Too often these days when we plan to get together, one or more of us have maladies. I actually feel pretty good this morning and was planning to go but I do have the shakes from the Lyrica. I’m waiting for it to work and abate the pain of the neuralgia but nothing yet. However, it does allow me a night’s sleep. Last night I got 7 hours and 45 minutes.

Chris picked me up at 6 pm on the dot. She drove us around the neighborhood and we had a good time critiquing the light displays and catching up with each other. This year seems to be “Wrap the Tree Year.”

That’s a lot of lights.

The most startling was the one that really went high up in the tree.

The best part was we didn’t get rained on. After our tour, Chris took me over to visit with Tucker. I hadn’t seen him in a while and I got a great greeting. Even though she lives only a block away, she insisted on driving me home.

Looks like it will be a laid back Sunday with a nap, some football, and making egg nog. I hope Santa brings you lots of goodies tonight.

Stay tuned!
