Everything Fred – Part 192

25 December 2023

Merry Christmas! ¡Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noël! Frohe Weihnacten! Etc. Etc. Etc.

Last night the neighbors across the street celebrated Nochebuena – until 2:30 am. They weren’t really noisy, but the bass sound of their music was a little penetrating through my walls. I didn’t really mind. They are great neighbors. I got plenty of sleep anyway (at least 6 1/2 hours). I didn’t even know they were partying until I got up to pee at 1:30 am. It was then I heard the bass.

Speaking of Nochebuena, Ivan and Gigi stopped by last night and provided me Christmas Eve dinner. It was good to see them. The food was great. Ham (2 methods of preparation), yams, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, with flan and cookies for dessert. I repaid them with a little home made egg nog.

I’ve had four really great days where my energy level was almost back to normal. The fifth day was asking too much. I crashed today. I told Michel and Nancy I wouldn’t make it to dinner tonight. I hate canceling at the last minute but that seems to have become my life. I think I’ll have to turn down any more invitations until my energy level stabilizes. I hate that.

My cousin Jimmie took pity on me about my nails and sent me an electric nail clipper and emery. She has one and says it’s not too good on the clipping part but OK on the emery part. I’ve yet to try it since I recently clipped my nails. What’s funny is the instructions were in Chinese. There was no English translation. I managed to figure out how it works – there were only two buttons so even I could figure it out.

The slot on the right clips the nails. The circular structure is the emery device.

Christmas Day in South Florida is going to be cloudy with afternoon thunderstorms. We are getting a cold front coming through sometime this week and by Friday, we are predicted a low of 46°F. I’ll be extra careful to look out for falling iguanas.

There are so many hazards living in South Florida. Falling coconuts, falling palm fronds from Royal Palms and Bismarck Palms, falling iguanas, walking catfish, giant pythons, poisonous ornamental plants, the Florida legistlature. It’s lucky anyone survives. Even going to Disney World is dangerous now that it’s become a political football.

I got a notice this morning to not forget I had an appointment with Hollywood Chrysler Jeep for December 27. The only problem is that it is on my calendar for January 3rd. One of us is looney. Place your bets. I’ll show up on the 27th fully expecting to be told to come back on the 3rd.

I’m gonna have some lunch, crawl back in bed with my iPad, and take a nap. A Christmas miracle may occur and my energy level may return.

Stay tuned!
